Mark is the founder, host, and producer of Explore The Space podcast, a show where healthcare providers and those seeking healthcare come together to share and learn. He is a practicing hospitalist in Santa Rosa, California and enjoys helping his teammates and colleagues find and realize their aspirations.
Emily is a hospitalist at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francsico (UCSF), and creator/host of The Nocturnists, a medical storytelling live show and podcast. She has published prose in JAMA, poetry in The Examined Life Journal at the University of Iowa School of Medicine, and is currently embarking on a new writing project with the support of an October 2018 fellowship at the MacDowell Colony. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband Boaz.
Tina is a resident in otolaryngology + head and neck surgery at Stanford University. Because of a long-held fascination for sound and the sense of hearing, she is also completing a postdoctoral fellowship in auditory neuroscience as part of her training, with the goal of finding better treatments for hearing loss and tinnitus. When she's not in the operating room or laboratory, you can find Tina on the patio of a coffee shop around campus, reading, writing, listening to lo-fi music, and enjoying the Bay Area weather.
Jeremy is a practicing pulmonary and critical care doctor who was born, raised, and trained in the Chicagoland area. He has been writing on his blog since 2013 on themes of work-life balance, burnout, medical education and end of life care. He is currently pursuing his MPH at Johns Hopkins and is interested in policy that encourages early, deep, and broad discussions of advanced care planning.
Monica has spent the last 15 years working as an actual nocturnist in a county hospital in San Jose -- so she could probably beat you in a gross-out contest. She is a 4th generation Bay Area native, 3rd generation physician, 2nd generation pediatrician, and the 1st hospitalist in her family. She loves working nights and telling and listening to stories.
Scott is a Bay Area-based singer-songwriter and recording artist. He's released five critically-acclaimed albums, and had his songs featured on countless radio programs and websites, including USA Today. Learn more about him here.
